Wow! After much procrastination, finally, I’ve done it. Wanted to start writing on my own blog for quite some time, but somehow or another, I have always postponed it. Well, maybe it’s because I feel that I have nothing to write about, maybe I felt that I suck at writing, maybe I felt that there is no point of writing and expressing my views, maybe it was just another act of my bad habit. Procrastinating! Yes. I suppose the latter sums it all up. So what made me write?
I have just watched the short movie “FITNA”. Did not really want to see it as I thought of it as just another movie, or another issue pointed at Islam (there's just too many parties who just loves to "carik pasal"). To tell and preach to the whole wide world that Islam is a religion of terror, a religion of extremism, and a religion of hate. Frankly, I’m sick of these issues, and I thought that I could no longer be bothered by all that. Well, they say there should be freedom of speech and views right? Is that not what the world especially the western are preaching for, and condemning other nations who they judge as not practicing the “rights of freedom of speech”. To top it all, there is a majority of us (in
Now it is not my intention here to talk and comment about the movie “FITNA”, or to comment on the issue of freedom of speech. What made me wrote here is on the comments posted on the movie “FITNA”. Makes me sick on what is written on the comments, and makes me even more sick is the fact that some of the Muslims (I assume they are) are replying with equally harsh and abusive language. Guys, we don’t really have to get into this war of words, or even to war with them. Well, not on the physical aspect maybe. We Muslims have a population of an estimated 1.3 billion across the globe, and we have some of the richest nations. It is the 21st century, and it’s all about economics. Hit them back economically. Well, I’m sure these western nations or anyone else that claims Islam is a religion of terror (which practically translates Muslims are terrorists) do not want to satin their hands with money from whom they label as terrorists right? For Muslims here in Malaysia and across the world, stop buying their products and using their services. They are well off enough. They are the most righteous people who can judge what is wrong and what is right. Even when a leader or government is elected by its people, but not by them, what do they do? They need to liberalize the people under the flag of world peace (recall
Ahhh… I have been writing till to a point that I may just confuse some with what is my point here. Basically, what I’m trying to say here is for Muslims around the world to rise up. We don’t have to use force, well definitely not necessary now. Try using the economic weapon. The Muslims and Islamic nations are more than capable of doing so. What that needs to be done is to unite. I believe that it is not impossible. I believe that it can be done. And I believe that we will thrive. But only if we all unite and do and act as one.
I have been filling my tank with SHELL. As a start, I’ll opt for PETRONAS instead. I see no reason why not. The reason I have been filling with SHELL is to collect Bonuslink points, and enjoy the tiny rebates I get with Citibank-SHELL credit card. Well, no worries, I’ll just switch to real rewards and CIMB-PETRONAS card instead. Does not make much difference anyways. There are products in my kitchen and toleteries which are manufactured under the flag of UNILEVER, well, time to ditch them I suppose. I have also called my life insurance agent at ING Insurance, and I have requested him to terminate my policy (sorry dude, nothing against you. It just happen that ING is a Dutch company) just time for me to shop for another insurance company. Bottom line, if you people out there feel that Muslims are being insulted, and our religion is being unjustly accused, let them who says so feel the pinch by boycotting their products. In this case the Dutch. And let it not be for a week or two. Let it be for good. Let us stop the unjust treatments towards the Muslim community and towards our religion for once. Let us achieve victory not in bloodsheds and violence, but in economic dominance. I have said it earlier, and I shall say it again with full conviction. We are more than capable to do so, but only if we stand united…
